On May 31, 2007, the California Assembly Appropriations Committee voted to send AB 1113 (Brownley) in front of the full Assembly for a vote on or before this coming Friday, June 8, 2007. We need you to phone, write, fax or e-mail your Assembly member by June 7, and ask them to “Support and Vote for AB 1113 as Written.”
AB 1113 would make important changes to the 250% Medi-Cal Working Disabled program, including waiving asset and resource limits, removing its current marriage penalties, exempting public and private retirement income for those enrolled, and doing away with the program’s current sunset provision. The program is set to end in 2008 without this provision. One legislative analyst commented recently: “Oh so folks in this program can do what most everyone else does with their lives, get married and save to buy a home.”
If you don’t know who your Assembly member is, you can find out at: http://www.assembly.ca.gov/
